*SisterSinister joins #projecteducate to share her experience as a fetish model!
How did you get into modeling in general, and fetish modeling specifically?
I kind of just fell in to it actually. I did a shoot with a photographer I knew just for fun and ended up with pretty decent pictures. After that I got request from other photographers and I thought it was fun so I just went on with it. It pretty quickly turned in to something I couldn't imagine NOT doing.
I do a lot of other things than just fetish modeling. But I do quite a lot of it and I think that came quite natural to me since when I started modeling I was in an 'alternative' phase in my life. haha. I model a lot of latex fashion and that is simply because I love the look of it and how it makes me feel. When I put on a well fitted latex garment I feel like a superhero, and I think that confident shows in the pictures. Also alternative modeling allows for more variations and experimenting that many other genres since there's not really and 'no no's' in that genre. It's very open and free to any crazy ideas you might have.
What was your favorite shoot?
I can't really pick a favorite shoot since I've had a lot of amazing ones. My favorites ones are basically the ones where I work with a team that are positive, creative and excited about what we are doing. Lots of positive energy and people who knows what they are doing. Whether it's a planned and well organized shoot or a spontaneous one with just me and a photographer, if those elements are there it's most likely to be a success.
What would you say was the strangest thing you've done for a shoot?
I don't know if I'd say 'strange', but most memorable things to name a few must be from a shoot I did with a few other models where we had a male model on a table in a salad. We Where having a nice dinner, eating this male model, drinking wine and having a good time. That was fun! One time on another shoot with a great photographer, Ryan Garrison, I had to drink black paint and and kind of drool it out. Didn't taste very nice I tell you! Others to add to the list might be sitting naked on a rock in a wild flood in the middle of freezing cold winter in northern Sweden, and covering myself completely in blue paint.

What do you look for in a photographer? What makes you want, or not want to work with someone?
What makes me want to work with someone is if they have a nice and professional attitude, along with previous work that shows that they can produce quality and interesting pictures. I'm happy to give anyone a chance as long as I think we can create something special or really cool together. I like people who have ideas and visions, and not only writes to me saying 'I want to shoot you, do you have any ideas?'.
What are some positive and negative gains and experiences you've had as a model?
I wouldn't say that I've had that many negative ones really. You come a cross a lot of 'fake' people in the business, and people that wants to be your friend sometimes just to get exposure or steal contacts and such. But that can happen even if you're not in the business too..people are taking advantage of each other and not always in the nice way. Positive things is I've learned quite well how to sort those people out and be friends with them in a 'healthy' way. I've gotten to know my body much better, how to move and what makes me look good and not. Also learned a lot about how I work as a person and how to deal with different situations and different kinds of people. Made a lot of great friends all over the world and I've seen incredible places.
And I get to live out a lot of fantasies in my shoots that otherwise would just be a cool idea in my head.
Do you tell people about being a model? How do the people in your life deal with it, if they know?
It's not something I just go around telling random people or the first thing I say to someone I meet. All my friends knows about it and a lot of my friends are also in the business so that's natural for us to talk about it. My family knows about it too and the follow my adventures online and support me. It's usually not a big topic around the family dinner table tho since some of the shoots or outfits sometimes can be a bit too daring to be a family matter.
To people I work with in other fields I don't say much about my modeling. That would most likely lead to some unwanted attention or questions from people you don't want to discuss lingerie or heels with...

Do you consider yourself a confident person? What keeps you comfortable and happy in front of the camera?
I would say that I'm a quite confident person, but I do get a bit shy at times. In front of the camera tho I'm very confident. I go in to my model character and nothing can touch me on a personal level. On a photoshoot you will always get the best out of me and that is all I can do. If that's still not good enough for you then I was obviously not the right model for your vision and that's not my fault. Everyone has different taste and different opinions in whats good and not. So I just keep my cool and have fun on every shoot I do.
What would you say to people who insist that fetish photography is "just porn" or has no artistic value?
That's something that has to stand for them. If that's their personal opinion then that's fine, they don't have to be a part of it or look at it if they don't like it. Not everyone loves Picasso or Monet either. I think everyone has the right to think whatever they want as long as people respect each other and
don't attack people for doing what they believe in.
What role do you play in creating the final image? That is to say, is it a collaborative process with the photographer to execute a concept?
Probably too much if you ask some photographers! haha. If it's a collab between me and a photographer I will have lots of ideas, and I usually do my own styling, makeup and everything. And I usually have ideas for the editing and so on as well. I'm very happy tho when there's a photographer that share the same vision as me and and we just get it right.
If it's a paid job where I'm just there to model I'm happy to do that too.

Do you have a fetish (or fetishes) of your own? If so, what?
If feeling incredible sexy and powerful wearing latex and heels is a fetish, then yes?
How do you feel about working with other models?
That could be fun if it's models I like and get along with. Absolutely! With the right concept that could make for great images. And if we don't really match but it's for a paid job then it's just to be professional and give 100% in front of the camera anyway.
If you work with fetish designers, is there anything in specific you enjoy about it? Do you have a favorite designer, or favorite piece by a designer you've gotten to wear?
I have worked with so many amazing designers and I'm so thankful to all of them. A great wardrobe makes the shoots really pop so it would be hard without them. And it's so much fun to get a garment especially for the shoot you're doing and that you couldn’t find anywhere else.
I'm especially working a lot with HMS latex, Westward Bound, Breathless latex and Nauclear Design. All of the labels I work with have different styles and I have so many favorite outfits from all of them.

Who do you find inspirational?
Anyone who follows their dreams and don't listen to bullshit.
My friend Lisa ( Mannequin Lisa as model name) is very inspirational and a true fighter!
What is your dream shoot that you've always wanted to do, but for whatever reasons, haven't done yet?
There's a lot of things I haven't done but would love to to. A shoot with horses, an underwater shoot and a shoot doing aerial hoop for example.
What advice would you give to new models in the field?
Just be yourself and try to find what makes you special and your strengths and weaknesses. Do what you feel comfortable with and practice a lot in the mirror and look through photos to see what you can improve. Always take references if you're considering working with someone you don't know much about. And most important, have fun. If you stop having fun maybe it's time to find something else to do.
